Palma Aquarium 2023: committed to education and the environment

Before we put 2023 behind us, we would like to take stock and share with you the progress we’ve made in terms of environmental awareness and the protection of our oceans.

Activities and one-of-a-kind experiences

Our goal is to raise awareness and drive knowledge of the marine world through memorable, one-of-a-kind experiences during your visit to Mallorca’s aquarium: experiences such as our  shark vision boat, diving with sharks, snorkelling with rays, and the Aquadome 3D cinema, etc. More than 7,900 visitors joined our backstage tour to get a first-hand insight into our conservation initiatives. This experience allowed them to understand the active role we play and our commitment to protecting marine ecosystems.

Our Ocean Experts carried out Palma Aquarium’s mission to disseminate knowledge directly to our visitors, delivering more than 1,800 talks in 2023.  What’s more, we added 10 new educational dynamics, games and talks designed to boost interest and awareness of the importance of conserving our oceans.

We also offer additional activities apart from the visit to the aquarium: examples include, sleeping with sharks, as well as our Easter, summer and Christmas camps for younger visitors featuring dynamics centred on environmental education.

We also host all types of events such as birthday parties, MICE and corporate meetings, and even weddings – all tailored to the specific needs of each client.

Driving knowledge

Palma Aquarium was chosen by 80 different educational institutions to contribute to their teaching projects. Our 2023 Environmental Education programme laid the foundations for this success, with 180 educational activities involving no fewer than 4,500 pupils of all levels, from primary to baccalaureate, as well as vocational training courses. Each interaction provided an opportunity to spread knowledge and awareness of the importance of conserving our oceans.

Social commitment

Last year, we welcomed 1,600 people from numerous not-for-profit organisations with social objectives. This collaboration strengthens our commitment to the community and social inclusion, as well as boosting the positive impact we can achieve by working together.

2023 was a year of successes and learning experiences for Palma Aquarium. Our mission to educate, inspire and promote marine conservation remains the driving force behind each of our actions. We are looking ahead to the future with renewed commitment, and are ready to continue working for the conservation of our oceans and environmental awareness. Thank you for joining us on this journey!
