Explore and discover

  • Mediterranean

Its name comes from the Latin "Mar Medi Terraneum" meaning "sea in the middle of the land", a name that perfectly describes its geographical location, as it is bounded by three continents (Europe, Africa and Asia).

This sea accounts for only 0.8% of the world's oceanic surface but it is a key place in Europe because it hosts most of its biodiversity and is home to more than 10,000 marine species.

Find out more about the most representative fauna and flora of the Mediterranean, learn about its main threats and join the fight for its conservation.

  • Tropical Seas

The Indian, Atlantic and Pacific oceans are known for their wealth of coral reef barriers.

The reefs provide shelter, protection, habitat, food, breeding grounds, survival and ultimately subsistence for species found only in these parts of the world. The conservation and protection of these coral reefs is essential for the ocean.

Discover their importance in the ecosystem, surround yourself with colour and life in the largest exhibition of living corals in Europe.

Come to the freshwater ponds and meet the Kois, friendly Japanese carp that capture the attention of everyone who comes near them, and take your time to enjoy your visit to the full.

You will also learn the story of how the discovery made by a small group of people about their songs changed the world's perception of them and triggered a social movement to save them.

A journey that will change everything you thought you knew about these incredible creatures.

  • Big Blue

Immerse yourself in Palma Aquarium's most iconic aquarium and the kingdom of sharks.

With impressive measurements and figures; 33 metres long, 25 metres wide, 8.5 metres deep and housing 3.5 million litres of salt water, Palma Aquarium's Big Blue is one of the deepest shark aquariums in Europe. It is a tank of such dimensions that it can be visited in a boat adapted for this purpose.

The Gran Azul was built below sea level and subjected to a special waterproofing process. It is a space that strongly evokes the sensation of submersion in the depths of the ocean, representing the pelagic zones.

  • Jellyfish

Be mesmerised by their delicate movements and discover the oldest creatures on the planet in a cylindrical aquarium. A carefully thought-out construction in which the water circulation pressure must be optimal so that the animals can let themselves be carried along by the current.

Enjoy watching the dances, colours and magic of these fascinating creatures in Palma Aquarium's medusarium.
