Since 2016, the Palma Aquarium Foundation has been creating and taking part in a number of social and environmental projects aimed at protecting and educating about the marine environment. We are delighted to announce the launch of a new series of talks starting September 2025 and organised by Palma Aquarium and its Foundation. The talks are titled Ecos del Mediterráneo (Echoes of the Mediterranean) and admission is free of charge.
This exciting initiative is intended to create a space for outreach in the Palma Aquarium facilities that will address issues related to the marine environment and provide a platform for projects that are committed to environmental conservation and awareness.
Our goal is to drive knowledge regarding the challenges facing our oceans, while working to raise awareness and involve the local community, as well as professionals and institutions, in sea conservation.
The first Ecos del Mediterráneo session will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, 25th September at the Océano Room at Palma Aquarium. The title of the lecture is ‘The sea is changing, help us investigate the causes’.
Given the changes that are taking place in the Mediterranean Sea (rising temperatures, the arrival of invasive species, loss of biodiversity, etc.), citizen science is emerging as a key tool for research, enabling everyone to collaborate in monitoring and protecting the marine environment. The Observadores del Mar platform is behind this cooperation, connecting the public with scientific projects that work to expand knowledge and improve the conservation of marine ecosystems.
Speakers at the event include Marina Bolaños, coordinator of the Observadores del Mar platform for the Balearic Islands. Chairing the talk will be Debora Morrison and Marco Magazzu, Director and Technician at the Palma Aquarium Foundation, respectively.
To attend this inspiring lecture, fill in the form available on our website. Capacity is limited and each person must sign up individually, so make sure you book your spot as early as possible!
Upcoming talks will continue to address topics in favour of marine conservation:
Anyone interested in suggesting new topics or taking part as speakers at future sessions are welcome to contact us at conservacion@palmaaquarium.com.
Through initiatives such as this, Palma Aquarium and its Foundation seek to further their goals of conservation, education, and research, promoting knowledge as the key to protecting our seas. These talks not only offer an opportunity to learn and share, but also to build a community committed to marine conservation and respect for the natural environment.
