ECOS DEL MEDITERRÁNEO

The Mediterranenan monk seal: a necessary return

The Mediterranean monk seal (known locally on the islands as vell marí) was, until relatively recently, a common and emblematic inhabitant of the Balearic Islands.

Unfortunately, the monk seal is no longer a resident population in the Balearic Islands, with the last specimens disappearing from the islands in the 1950s.

Would you like to learn more about the biology and natural history of the Mediterranean seal and its role in the Balearic Islands? Join Joan Mayol, a passionate naturalist, conservation expert and key figure in organisations such as GOB and Parc de s'Albufera, among others.

We look forward to seeing you on Monday 17th November at Palma Aquarium!
