The Legacy of bou fishing in Mallorca
Originated in Palma and spreading to the ports of Mallorca in the 19th century, bou fishing shaped the character of our coastline, evolving from sail to motorisation until it reached its historical peak in the 1960s with around a hundred boats in operation.
Despite its importance, the sector has suffered successive crises since the 1980s, reducing the current fleet to barely twenty vessels that keep this trade alive.
We look forward to seeing you next Friday, 27 March, at Palma Aquarium to delve into the history, mysteries and reality of this maritime legacy alongside our guests.
