Palma Aquarium ended 2025 on an extremely positive note, consolidating its role as one of Mallorca’s benchmark institutions for scientific outreach, responsible leisure and connection with the marine environment. Throughout the year, the aquarium delivered a combination of educational experiences, awareness-raising actions and improvements in sustainability, offering audiences of all ages a fascinating insight into the oceans.
In 2025, Palma Aquarium was able to confirm the public’s growing interest in experiences that combine leisure, learning and environmental awareness. Each visit is an opportunity to learn more about marine biodiversity, understand the challenges facing our oceans and reflect on the importance of their conservation.
Environmental education remains one of Palma Aquarium’s principal areas of activity. The Ocean Experts, the aquarium’s educators, delivered more than 2,100 educational talks, complemented by participatory activities and learning games that facilitate an engaging yet rigorous understanding of the marine world.
Once again, the Backstage Tour proved to be one of the most popular experiences. No fewer than 10,687 visitors enjoyed the opportunity to discover what goes on “behind the scenes” at the aquarium, including the various marine conservation projects and operations at the Balearic Islands’ Marine Fauna Recovery Centre.
In addition, children’s activities — such as the camps, birthday parties and the sleep with the sharks experience — brought together 11,473 boys and girls, fostering respect for the ocean from an early age through immersive experiences.

Palma Aquarium is also a member of the European I-START Project, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and sustainability applied to the environment.
2025 saw the launch of the Som de la Mar movement, an initiative that strengthens the bond between citizens and the Mediterranean Sea, inviting them to understand, respect and protect it. Through educational, interpretive and awareness-raising experiences, Palma Aquarium promotes a more informed and responsible relationship with the Balearic Sea, encouraging the active involvement of visitors and the local community in its conservation.
These achievements reflect Palma Aquarium’s determination to contribute to environmental education, sustainability and marine awareness, in order to constantly inspire thousands of people to care for the ocean. The journey continues, with new challenges and opportunities that will bring the ocean closer to society and protect the biodiversity it sustains.
