The Mediterranean is part of our identity, our culture and our everyday lives, which is why, between 28th February and 2nd March, Palma Aquarium will be joining the celebrations to mark the Day of the Balearic Islands with a family-friendly charity event where leisure, environmental education and solidarity go hand-in-hand.

During this period, the park will be offering all visitors a special programme of educational and awareness-raising activities, all with a clear goal: to raise money for the conservation and environmental education projects run by the Palma Aquarium Foundation and the continued protection of the Balearic Sea.

A celebration in aid of a good cause and a special admission price for residents

To mark this charity event, Balearic Island residents will be able to benefit from a reduced admission price of  €12, which includes a €2 donation to Palma Aquarium Foundation. A simple and direct way of contributing to marine conservation while enjoying a unique experience.

This initiative is a further boost to Palma Aquarium’s commitment to a responsible leisure model, where every visit contributes to making a positive impact on the marine environment.

Activities for learning, play and awareness

The special Day of the Balearic Islands programme includes interactive and educational experiences for all ages, designed to bring the sea and its species closer to the public in an engaging, hands-on way.

Over the course of several days, visitors will have the chance to discover fascinating facts about seahorses and sharks at the Experience Lab, take part in the ReciclART workshop, where our younger visitors can create their own seahorse using recycled materials, or learn more about the Foundation’s conservation projects through games and educational activities.

There will also be activities such as feeding sessions for sharks and rays, the “Volunteer for a Day” competition, where participants will have to complete a number of missions to learn how to protect the sea, and the Marine Champions game, which invites visitors to discover the ocean’s most surprising records.

Som de la Mar: an ongoing commitment

This charity event is part of Som de la Mar, the Palma Aquarium initiative that seeks to strengthen the local community’s bond with the Balearic Sea by fostering knowledge, respect and active involvement in its conservation.

Through events, experiences and awareness-raising actions, Som de la Mar (“We are Sea People”) invites residents and visitors to reconnect with the Mediterranean, understand its fragility and become ambassadors for its protection.

Plans for enjoying and caring for the Mediterranean

The special programme for the Day of the Balearic Islands is another step in Palma Aquarium’s ongoing commitment to marine conservation, environmental education and public engagement.

It is the perfect opportunity to celebrate our islands, enjoy time with the family while also contributing to caring for the sea that surrounds us. Because the Mediterranean is part of who we are, and protecting it is everyone’s responsibility.

We look forward to celebrating the Day of the Balearic Islands with you in a unique and meaningful way!
