Often, when we think of Majorca, the first thing that comes to mind is the sun and the beach. However, this island has so much more to offer us and hides great gems that will delight youngsters and those that are not so young anymore. Would you like to discover 9 things to do in Majorca with kids and enjoy your holidays to the fullest? We will give you a preview of some of the best activities to do with your family in Majorca in Palma Aquarium.

Paddle Surf or Kayak

Water and children are two inseparable concepts, especially in a destination like Mallorca. But the options are not limited to the beaches and coves found all over the island, we can also add an extra element of fun with activities such as Paddle Surfing or Kayaking in Mallorca. On the island there is the possibility of a multitude of options adapted to the youngest members of the family, with total safety and with many activities for them. This can, in addition to being a very fun activity, be a sport the discovery of a sport to do during the hottest months of the year.

Palma Aquarium

At Palma Aquarium,  Mallorca’s Aquarium, you are guaranteed hours and hours of learning, fun, excitement and lots of experiences. This is one of the best aquariums in Europe, with more than 700 species and 8,000 different animals. At Palma Aquarium you can travel around the world’s oceans on a spectacular journey in which you will discover the marine fauna of every corner, as well as a wide range of experiences for all ages. Looking for 9 things to do in Mallorca with kids? At Palma Aquarium you will find many more! Here are some of the activities you’ll find:

The Big Blue, a walk among sharks

The Big Blue is the deepest shark tank in Europe, home to 11 sharks and over a thousand fish that you can observe through a transparent tunnel as you watch them swim in all directions. But that’s not all! For the more daring, there is also the possibility to take a ride on the Shark Vision Boat. The Shark Vision Boat is a boat designed exclusively for Palma Aquarium by a Mallorcan craftsman. This boat sails through the impressive Big Blue to see the sharks in the aquarium from a new perspective.

Aquadome, 3D experience

In this activity you will be able to follow the journey of humpback whales through an incredible 3D experience. During the tour, you can be part of their lives, surround yourself with these giant mammals as they swim through the ocean and even listen to their songs and stories. This fully immersive experience will delight children and enchant adults alike.

A place to raise awareness of ocean life

Palma Aquarium has been recognised as a Marine Fauna Recovery Centre of the Balearic Islands since 2014. In addition to all the activities that take place outside the aquarium and that help to conserve the marine life of the islands, at Palma Aquarium you can enjoy fun activities while understanding how the marine world works and raising awareness of the importance of ecological conservation. Education and fun don’t have to be at odds with each other!

Another highlight of this place is that it is open every day of the year. Unlike other attractions and activities to do in Mallorca with children, Palma Aquarium does not close during the winter months, so you can enjoy its activities no matter when you go.

Go-Karting

Go-karting is another classic that never fails. A perfect plan to enjoy adrenaline and speed with the family. For those who like the smell of petrol and strong emotions, in Mallorca you will find indoor and outdoor go-karts to put your driving skills to the test.

You may think that go-karts are an attraction for teenagers and adults, but that’s not the case! At Karting Magaluf they also have a mini kart circuit, karts specially designed for small children (from 3 years old) so that the youngest in the family can also enjoy four-wheeled fun. It may not be suitable or to everyone’s taste, but it is definitely one of the things to keep in mind when searching for things to do in Mallorca with young children.

Reserva Galatzó

In the famous Serra de Tramuntana, right at the foot of the Puig de Galatzó, we find the Galatzó Reserve, a natural space where you will discover the perfect combination of flora, fauna, activities and fun. This reserve offers a very easy circular walk (it won’t take you more than an hour to complete it) that goes through the mountain through forests, waterfalls and other natural wonders. As we have said, it is an easy hike that is totally suitable for children. The 3.5-kilometre route has quite a few steep parts, but all of them are very short and with lots of stops in between to rest. Bears, ostriches and goats are some of the animals you can see along the route through the Galatzó reserve, as well as demonstration activities and other activities such as zip-lining and climbing. In fact, because the route is so enjoyable, you’ll finish without even realising it and you’ll want to do it all over again.

Cabrera island

And from park to park, we move on to the national park of Cabrera Island, a small island that dazzles with its natural beauty, its beautiful birds, fantastic beaches and a whole underwater world to discover. If you want to spend a different day with your family and enjoy all that the Balearic Islands have to offer, a day trip to Cabrera Island is one of the things to do in Mallorca with young children. Pack your lunch, picnic or whatever you want to eat, don’t forget your diving goggles and snorkelling gear and head for this island -one of the most unknown in the Balearic Islands. To get there, you’ll first have to go to Colonia de Sant Jordi, from where excursions depart daily.

Horse riding

Horse riding is the dream of many children… And what could be better than doing it surrounded by spectacular scenery? On horseback rides along the beach you can enjoy a fun activity for both children and adults. Another option is to go up the mountain and observe the fantastic panoramic views of the bay of Alcúdia on horseback. The possibilities are endless and can be adapted to the size and tastes of the group: if you are more adventurous, want a quieter ride, like to enjoy the beach or the mountains… Don’t hesitate to ask which option would be perfect for you.

Muro Beach

Yes, we are aware that you already know that the beach is one of the things to do in Mallorca with children, but we are not adding this here just for the sake of it. Not all beaches are the same, nor are they 100% equipped for children to enjoy themselves and have a good time. Moreover, either because of their difficult access, because they are dangerous or because there are no areas for children to play, some beaches are more enjoyable as an adult than as a child. That is why we would like to recommend Muro beach. This beautiful beach, which is right next to the S’Albufera Natural Park, is a beach with crystal clear waters, fine sand and very calm waves. There you can see the blue flag flying – a sign of a beach of the highest quality – and you will notice in the atmosphere that it is a family beach. So much so that it even has a security service for children that works with bracelets and will give you the peace of mind of knowing that they are being watched at all times.

Serra de tramuntana

We have already explained everything you can find in the Galatzó Reserve, but Mallorca has much more to offer in terms of excursions and nature. If you are preparing a trip to the island and you are looking for things to do in Mallorca with young children, you should know that beyond the swimming costume and diving goggles, you should also pack hiking boots and comfortable clothes in your suitcase. The Serra de Tramuntana (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) offers us the opportunity to go on countless hiking routes and excursions that will leave you speechless. Don’t be scared, not all of them require a high level of fitness and many of these routes are completely suitable for small children. There you will find forests, stone paths and the famous dry crops. Hiking across the Serra de Tramuntana you will discover an area of the island that has been able to maintain the true essence of Mallorca.
