The ocean is our planet’s blue heart. It regulates the climate, produces much of the oxygen we breathe and is home to a fascinating biodiversity. To mark World Environment Day and World Ocean Day, here at Palma Aquarium, we have prepared a special programme for 6th and 7th June for the whole family to enjoy.
Throughout the weekend, visitors can enjoy educational experiences, interactive activities and unique encounters, discovering the importance of protecting marine ecosystems and learning more about the species that inhabit our oceans.
One of the highlights of the programme will be the first session of “Ona’s Ocean Secret”, a new storytelling experience created by Conte Contat especially for Palma Aquarium. Through storytelling and imagination, younger visitors will discover values linked to respect, marine conservation and the importance of caring for the sea in a fun and engaging way.
Visitors will have the chance to see first-hand how Palma Aquarium’s divers, aquarists and Ocean Experts work each day to ensure the wellbeing of marine species and protect ocean ecosystems.
Over the weekend, there will be commented feeding sessions featuring rescued sea turtles, sharks, rays, corals and octopuses—a unique opportunity to observe these animals up close while experts share fascinating insights into their biology, behaviour and the threats they face.
In addition, visitors can take part in educational talks and special demonstrations to learn more about the conservation projects led by the Fundación Palma Aquarium, including the rescue and rehabilitation of marine wildlife in the Balearic Islands, the protection of sea turtles, and the vital importance of corals for our planet.
Along the visitor route, guests will also encounter the “Experience Labs”: interactive spaces designed for dynamic, hands-on learning, where both children and adults will discover fascinating facts about the marine world and understand why ocean conservation is essential for the future of our planet.
Younger visitors can also continue to enjoy the Marine Superheroes Passport, an educational experience that invites them to complete missions and challenges during their visit and become authentic guardians of the ocean. Because understanding the sea is the first step towards protecting it.
World Environment Day and World Ocean Day offer an opportunity to reflect on the impact our actions have on the planet and to remember the importance of preserving our seas and oceans for future generations.
At Palma Aquarium, we want to celebrate these dates by inviting families, residents and visitors to enjoy a different kind of weekend—packed with opportunities for discovery, learning and a meaningful connection with the marine world.
We look forward to welcoming you on 6th and 7th June to celebrate the ocean together!
